Hei!!

As you can see, Canvas has a new look and I absolutely love it!
Kinda goes with the name me thinks..

I am really lazy to update my blog but then again what's the point of having one right?
SO, as some of u guys would have read my Facebook status yesterday, I was ranting about dog abusers..
It's sick and pathetic and simply inhuman to torture another living being..
I was having dinner with my brother and his girlfriend when suddenly this cute black dog came limping towards us, probably hoping to get some scrap from us. His front right leg looked burnt,he had no paws..plus, he had a huge hole on his back, like someone has burnt a hole with a cigarette(only this one was huge) and the hole was infested with maggots. Being a dog lover myself, the feeling I felt was way beyond sadness.

Sad thing was, we had already finished our meals and there was nothing left to give him...
So the poor thing limped to the next table and you could see how much of abuse he must have gone trough because he was so scared when the lady at the next table offered some bones and he wouldn't feed it of her hand. Instead, he waited for the lady to put the bones down. He kept flinching when people around him made the slightest movement

I cannot comprehend the fact that there are some sick dickheads out there who could do such a thing to these dogs.
I mean, you don't have to love them , but at the very least, leave them alone.
I once witnessed two assholes shooting a dog down and then dragging that poor guy..leaving a pool of its blood behind. I was familiar with this dog because he was always hanging around the area beside the school where the students park their cars.

SO yeah..I guess I made my message clear..as for me, Opening a dog shelter is definitely part of the future plans..

Benjamin Button

Benjamin Button:
Sometimes we’re on a collision course, and we just don’t know it. Whether it’s by accident or by design, there’s not a thing we can do about it. A woman in Paris was on her way to go shopping, but she had forgotten her coat, went back to get it. When she had gotten her coat, the phone had rung, so she’d stopped to answer it, talked for a couple of minutes. While the woman was on the phone, Daisy was rehearsing for a performance at the Paris Opera House. And while she was rehearsing, the woman, off the phone now, had gone outside to get a taxi. Now, a taxi driver had dropped off a fare earlier and had stopped to get a cup of coffee. And all the while, Daisy was rehearsing. And this cab driver, who dropped off the earlier fare, who’d stopped to get the cup of coffee, had picked up the lady who was going to shopping, and had missed getting an earlier cab. The taxi had to stop for a man crossing the street, who had left for work five minutes later than he normally did, because he forgot to set off his alarm. While that man, late for work, was crossing the street, Daisy had finished rehearsing, and was taking a shower. And while Daisy was showering, the taxi was waiting outside a boutique for the woman to pick up a package, which hadn’t been wrapped yet, because the girl who was supposed to wrap it had broken up with her boyfriend the night before, and forgot. When the package was wrapped, the woman, who was back in the cab, was blocked by a delivery truck; all the while Daisy was getting dressed. The delivery truck pulled away and the taxi was able to move, while Daisy, the last to be dressed, waited for one of her friends, who had broken a shoelace. While the taxi was stopped, waiting for a traffic light, Daisy and her friend came out the back of the theater. And if only one thing had happened differently, if that shoelace hadn’t broken, or that delivery truck had moved moments earlier, or that package had been wrapped and ready, because the girl hadn’t broken up with her boyfriend, or that man had set his alarm and got up five minutes earlier, or that taxi driver hadn’t stopped for a cup of coffee, or that woman had remembered her coat, and got into an earlier cab, Daisy and her friend would’ve crossed the street, and the taxi would’ve driven by; but life being what it is - a series of intersecting lives and incidents, out of anyone’s control - that taxi did not go by, and that driver was momentarily distracted, and that taxi hit Daisy, and her leg was crushed.

This has to be one of the most beautiful movie scenes I've watched.
It makes us think..every single action we take, the decisions we make, even the smallest ones have their consequences..maybe not to us..but to someone else out there..
it has such unexplainable depth that you just have to feel the way it was taken rather than trying to understand it..

Yesterday..

Posted by Shobana

Everything appears to have happened yesterday..
From entering Form 6 up to sitting for STPM and everything else in between..
Time has a way of arranging things..
SO that it appears as though it was just yesterday that something has happened..
and before you know it..time flies..leaving you with memories of the good and bad..
each with a unique way of making you who you are today and who you are gonna be in the future..
I'm still in shock and disbelieve that results is out tomorrow, but seriously, what's the point right?
I will just have to accept whatever the outcome is tomorrow..
But I must say I'm a lot calmer than I was compared to the time I was expecting for my SPM results
SO ya..let's just wait and see..
As long as it's good enough for me to do psychology, I'll be pretty darn happy I guess.
Good luck everyone:)

The Rose

Posted by Shobana

THe Rose

a meaningful story, so please take some time off whatever you're doing and read it
____________________________________________________________________________
The first day of school our professor introduced himself and challenged us to get to know someone we didn't already know. I stood up to look around when a gentle hand touched my shoulder.

I turned around to find a wrinkled, little old lady beaming up at me with a smile that lit up her entire being.

She said, 'Hi handsome. My name is Rose. I'm eighty-seven years old. Can I give you a hug?'

I laughed and enthusiastically responded, 'Of course you may!' and she gave me a giant squeeze.

'Why are you in college at such a young, innocent age?' I asked.

She jokingly replied, 'I'm here to meet a rich husband, get married, and have a couple of kids...'

'No seriously,' I asked. I was curious what may have motivated her to be taking on this challenge at her age.

'I always dreamed of having a college education and now I'm getting one!' she told me.

After class we walked to the student union building and shared a chocolate milkshake.

We became instant friends. Every day for the next three months we would leave class together and talk nonstop. I was always mesmerized listening to this 'time machine' as she shared her wisdom and experience with me..

Over the course of the year, Rose became a campus icon and she easily made friends wherever she went. She loved to dress up and she reveled in the attention bestowed upon her from the other students. She was living it up.

At the end of the semester we invited Rose to speak at our football banquet. I'll never forget what she taught us. She was introduced and stepped up to the podium. As she began to deliver her prepared speech, she dropped her three by five cards on the floor.

Frustrated and a little embarrassed she leaned into the microphone and simply said, 'I'm sorry I'm so jittery. I gave up beer for Lent and this whiskey is killing me! I'll never get my speech back in order so let me just tell you what I know.'

As we laughed she cleared her throat and began, ' We do not stop playing because we are old; we grow old because we stop playing.

There are only four secrets to staying young, being happy, and achieving success. You have to laugh and find humor every day.. You've got to have a dream. When you lose your dreams, you die.

We have so many people walking around who are dead and don't even know it!

There is a huge difference between growing older and growing up.

If you are nineteen years old and lie in bed for one full year and don't do one productive thing, you will turn twenty years old. If I am eighty-seven years old and stay in bed for a year and never do anything I will turn eighty-eight.

Anybody can grow older. That doesn't take any talent or ability. The idea is to grow up by always finding opportunity in change. Have no regrets.

The elderly usually don't have regrets for what we did, but rather for things we did not do. The only people who fear death are those with regrets.'

She concluded her speech by courageously singing 'The Rose.'

She challenged each of us to study the lyrics and live them out in our daily lives At the year's end Rose finishe d the college degree she had begun all those years ago.

One week after graduation Rose died peacefully in her sleep.

Over two thousand college students attended her funeral in tribute to the wonderful woman who taught by example that it's never too late to be all you can possibly be.

When you finish reading this, please send this peaceful word of advice to your friends and family, they'll really enjoy it!

These words have been passed along in loving memory of ROSE.

REMEMBER, GROWING OLDER IS MANDATORY. GROWING UP IS OPTIONAL. We make a Living by what we get. We make a Life by what we give.

God promises a safe landing, not a calm passage. If God brings you to it, He will bring you through it.

Of books and flu

Posted by Shobana

The flu is back to haunt me!
Yes, after 2 weeks of being in KL, I caught a flu. Why flu? I hate FLU! I feel so weak and useless..adoi..

Neways, so far everything has been good..applied for emcee-ing here and there, hopefully it works out, I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

I've always had a liking for the entertainment field but never really gave much thought to it. Having two members of my family in the industry, I learn that apart from the fame and attention and popularity, the amount of hard work one has to put in is stupendous, not forgetting the sacrifises they have to make .So now i'm having major indecision about my career choice. I grew thinking that I really wanted to be a doctor. Towards the end of form 6, I was leaning towards pyschology and now I have other plans in mind. Ergo, this situation leaves me confused and when I'm confused, i get irritated very fast. Ah well, Hopefully it all turns out good.

Apart from that, I went to visit my 2 month old niece yesterday who is oh-so-adorable with big big huge eyes(after me of course=) )

Lately I've been reading a lot of books by Indian authors. I love books by Indian authors reason being I can relate to what's written. Sorta lenghty to explain and I'm too lazy to do so=)

Here's a list of books I'll be reading for the next few days:

1.Passion and Poppadoms by Nisha Minhas
2.(un)arranged marriage by Bali Rai
3. Five Point Someone by Chetan Bhagat

Also, I would recommend you book lovers to read Chetan Bhagat's 2 states=)

That's all for now folks!

Tomorrow marks the first week of me being in KL. It's been a pretty okay so far, minus here and there, it's been good. The thing is, being in KL was a sort of an escape, a much need retreat from all the drama back home. This one week feels like being in someone's else shoes that it scares me..prolly because it's been a little too normal for me? I dunno.I'm just saying.

I miss my fellow Malaccan friends. The week before I went to Kl was spent mostly by going out with my bunch of assholes=)
Partly I felt guilty for going away but they were sweet to understood as to why I had too. Since we could't meet up for New Year's Day itself, Nick, Chai, Jiv,his sister and I went for a movie(Did you hear about the Morgans) and we were laughing so loud and there was only like what;10 people in the theatre.
Then the next day Jiv,his sis and I pergi makan Satay Celup at the newly renovated Happy Satay(that is the shops name, weird)near my place. Not much variety though. And of course, Jiv went bald..adoi..good luck with it growing back fast=)
Wednesday Nick and I went to Mcd for lunch and that ass was showing off his newly dyed hair(read his blog la eh). But I have to admid, it was worth the money as the tint was perfect=) Thank his lucky stars it didn't turn out to be like the bleached sorta blonde, whatever u wanna call it la..otherwise end up looking like ah beng=)

Since Ping is busy with work, Pras has some stuff on and I had no transport, we didn't get the chance to meet up before I left, but it's all good because I chatted with Pras on msn literally for the whole day for the past one week(excuse the exxageration)
I'm yet to call Ruen Ping..she busy ma..tak mau kacau
MY English is going down the drain looking at my post,Ah well..I am malaysian after all, so it's excusable.

Vanitha's busy with exams so tak boleh kacau her though i flood her FB wall with mindless "i have too much free time on my hands" quizzes (so she said)

Next week will be pretty busy because I'll be joining my bro already so I'm really sorry if I appear out of touch for a while and can't reply texts or can't pick up you calls or can't make calls..but I'll make it up lah ya =)

OOO..2mr or technically today la, I'll be watching avatar again, this time 3-D..Booyah!!

Now, I'm off to watch the other half of Forgetting sarah Marshall..so goodnight!

Flu

Posted by Shobana

It’s a euphoric feeling to be able to smell after recovering from a rather nasty flu.(of course, it's just starting for me) Well, nasty would actually be an understatement. I would seriously prefer to swallow two aspirins and sleep over a fever than catching flu. It’s just annoying to be sneezing and sniffing and snorting and it’s rather disguisting and irritating. Allow me to further elaborate on the word disguisting and irritating in terms of flu. Where shall I start now?

Could it be the water running down your nose? Could it be that exactly at that moment, you ran out of tissues and have to tilt your head backwards and cover your nose with your hand, walk around the classroom, asking your friends for tissues? Or when they see your snot and go like “Eeeeew, that’s disguisting”. (Very thoughtful, thank you very much., I suggest you don’t say another word unless you have a piece of tissue or I swear I will make sure you get a really, really nasty flu and I will be the harping on how disguisting is it to see water running down your nose instead.)

Or could it be the ‘beautiful’ colour changes your phlegm exhibit from white, to a cloudy precipitate, to a light shade of yellow, to a darker shade of yellow, to green throughout the flu phase(yes, it is indeed divided into phases, which I will have the pleasure of explaining later)

Or could it be the part whereby after you recover, you realize that your room is worst than a rat’s cage thanks to the contribution of the phlegm filled tissue.(which for no apparent reason is at every unimaginable corner in the room, considering the fact that you were on the bed. A matter that ought to be investigated).

Or could it be when your nose turns all ‘rudolphy’, meaning as red and big as Rudolph’s nose. For the super ignorant ones, let me enlighten you. Heard of Santa at the very least? Yes, it is indeed the big, fat man who slides down your chimney(which I’m still trying to figure out how he does considering the fact that he is, well, you know, pudgy) on Christmas eve to leave you presents in exchange for the cup of milk and cookies you leave him(sorry to say darlings, nothing is ever free in this world) Call me sadistic, but I am not to be blame. It’s the flu which has caused me to be a different person.

As I was saying before I drifted, Santa’s means of transportation happens to be a sleigh which is powered by flying reindeers.(yes, and they say there’s no such thing as magic) One of the reindeers’ name was Rudolph who was apparently exiled from any sort of reindeer games due to his big, fat, red nose until Santa found out that he was really useful when it came to a foggy Christmas eve.(do listen to the song “Rudolph the red nose reindeer” to understand further because as I have said, the flu have made me a very sadistic person) So yes, as I’ve mentioned, Rudolph had a big, red nose and that’s exactly how your nose turns when you catch a flu, or rather the flu catches you. Big, fat and red.

And of course, the stages, how can that ever slip my mind. First, you feel like sleeping the whole day, as though your high on cocaine and you feel drowsiness at an extreme level and as afore mentioned, all you want to do is fall asleep regardless of where you are.(although, I prefer to be bundled up in my comforter). Then the next stage would be where you feel cold regardless of the external temperature being 100 Celsius. This is the part where your snot is more liquid than tap water itself. Need I say more?

Anyways,apart from flu:
1. I watched Avatar(finally) and it was bloody brilliant
2. I would have enjoyed it more if it wasn't for the flu and was stubborn to drink coke despite my mum warning me not too
3. I'll be of to KL tomorrow and will be there approximately till results are out
4. I'm not done packing because the clothes are still drying and because of the stupid rain(which i usually love),it's taking a longer time. Not good, because i'm leaving early 2mr, so I have to be up early 2mr=(.
5. Next post, from kl=)

If you are an Ass : A very loyal and sweet person. Your loyalty can never be doubted. You are quite honest and sincere when it comes to your attitude towards working. You are a very simple person, indeed. Absolutely hassle free, humble and down-to-earth!! That explains the reason why your friends cling on to you! You have a good taste for clothes. If your wardrobe is not updated with what is trendy, you sure are depressed. Popular and easy-going. You have a little group of dignified friends, all of them being quality-personified.

If you are a Slug : Always up to some sort of a mischief! The mischievous gleam in your eyes is what makes you so cute and attractive to everyone. You are an extremely fun-to-be-with kind of person. No wonder people seek for your company and look forward to include you for all get-together's. However, you are sensitive which is a drawback. People need to select their words while talking to you. If someone tries to fiddle around and play with words while dealing with you, it is enough to invite your wrath.
God bless the person then!

If you are a Cockroach : Quite contradictory to your name, you are a peace loving person. You best try to avoid a situation wherein you are required to fight. An outdoor person, you dislike sitting at one place for a long duration. You are a born leader, and have it in you how to tactfully derive work from people. You love being loved, and when you receive your share of limelight from someone, you are all theirs!!!! Well, well... hence some people could even take an advantage, flatter you to the maximum and get their work done. So be careful.....

If you are a Parasite : An extremely lovable, adorable person, sometimes shy, with a passion for quick wit. At times, you prefer quietness. You love exploring various things and going into depth of each thing. Under normal circumstances you're cool but when given a reason to, you are like a volcano waiting to erupt. You're a fashion bird. People look forward to you as an icon associated with fashion. Basically, you mingle along freely but don't like talking much to strangers. People feel very easy in your company. You observe care in choosing your friends.

If you are a Skunk : You are near to perfect and nice at heart. The examples of your kindness are always circulated in groups of people. You too, love peace. You wouldn't like to retaliate even to a person who is in the wrong. You are loved due to this. You do not wish to talk behind one's back. People love the way you always treat them. You can give, give and give love, and the best part is that you do not expect it back in return. You are generous enough. Seeing things in a practical light is what the best trait of you guys remains.

If you are a Bullfrog : You symbolize a very happy-go-lucky approach in life. Whatever the surroundings may be, grim or cheerful, you remain unaffected. In fact, you spread cheer wherever you go. You are the leader of your group of friends and good at consoling people in their times of need. You dislike hypocrisy and tend to shirk away from hypocrites. They can never be in your good books, no matter what. You are very methodical and organized in your work. No amount of mess, hence, can ever encompass you. Beware; it is easy for you to fall in love....

If you are a Snake : You are mysterious. You are someone who can handle pressure with ease, and can handle any atmosphere without going berserk. You can be mean at times, and love to gossip with your selected group. Very prim and proper. You like all situations and things to be in the way you desire, which, sometimes is not possible. As a result, you may lose out in some relationships. But otherwise, you love to help people out from difficult and tight spots when they really need you.

If you are an Ape : Very impatient and hyper!!! You want things to be done as quickly as possible. At heart, you are quite simple and love if you are the center of attraction. That way, you people are unique..You would like to keep yourself safe from all the angles. Shall your name be dragged or featured in any sort of a controversy, you then go all panicky. Therefore, you take your precautions from the very beginning. When you foresee anything wrong, your sixth sense is what saves you from falling in traps. Quite a money minded bunch you people are!
